two thousand and fourteen.

December 27, 2013

Dear readers,

I have so many things I'm planning to share with you: posts about our trip to Japan in September, final reflections on our year in Korea, recipes...the list goes on. I just can't find the energy to finish them right now. I have rolls and rolls of film yet to be sent to the photo lab. I'll post them soon, and I thank you for your patience.

In the meantime, I would like to share some of my goals and plans for the new year. As I write this, I am sipping on mulled wine in my pajamas and feeling both anxious and excited about the coming year. I feel the need to focus on well-being. A few months ago, I tried a new strategy in which I attempted to live without something new each month in an effort to test my limits and consider what I truly need in my life. It was a well-laid plan, albeit abandoned quickly; it was too restrictive for me.

Instead, I have a list of general goals for 2014:
Establish a morning routine - wake up early, eat breakfast, journal or meditate.
Run or do yoga every day - these things make me healthy and happy; time to cement the habit.
Eat more healthfully - try lots of new recipes, learn to preserve my food, avoid excessive splurging.
Herbs - study them, infuse them, use them for good health, hang them in our home.
Live with intention - travel, be present and grateful, be open to new things, cultivate hygge.
Nurture the important relationships in my life - with my fella, my friends, my family, and myself.
Take time to thoughtfully decorate and keep our home clean and pleasant.

What are your goals and plans for the new year?
