love to boston.

April 16, 2013

It feels wrong to post a typical entry today. As I prepare yet another round of photos of flowers and happy people, my thoughts are preoccupied with the horrific event in Boston yesterday. There has been much concern expressed recently by my friends and family regarding my safety as an expat living in South Korea amidst rising tensions with North Korea. But the Marathon bombing reminded me of the reality that there is danger and violence everywhere. Events like this ignite a feeling of powerlessness within me, and I must consider how best to respond to such senseless violence and destruction. I suppose a good response is to help and to focus on loving others. There are several organizations taking donations to help the victims of the bombing, such as the Salvation Army, if you're able and willing to contribute.

Sending my love and support to everyone affected by this tragedy.
